The name is a huge astronomy nerd reference. Two named stars in the Lyra constallation are Vega and Aladfar (η Lyr), which are from Arabic wāqi‘ "descent"/"landing" and al-ʼuẓfur "the talons" respectively. Sure, "landing" isn't used in the sense the original was, but how has that stopped anyone in the past?
