Blackout Blues

St. Louis goes dark on the morning of April 7th, and on the next day Atka calls Malta saying that there are important Black Star contacts which were located in St. Louis and needs the team to go find. Specifically:

• Bella, a human decker
• Tiny, a troll adept, undercover using alias "Demetrius Monguia"

The team has been paid an advance of 20k nuyen, and will be paid 60k if the team can locate one of them, 80k for both. Additional payment can be negotiated from the two depending on information found about the blackout, because Horizon is oddly prepared to help.

We got to St Louis, created a fake authorization, and went inside. After digging into the Italian mafia and following up the contact, we found Bella's ex-girlfriend, and used that to get to her place, which had been shot up. Successfully guessing that the Vory had her, we went and traded a supply run to the Vory in exchange for her location. Successfully getting her, she was badly irradiated and injured. Giving her the anti-rads we had and patching her up, we let her sleep off, and then held her in the fan in order to keep her safe.

She informed us that Tiny was in the Archology, and so we began an infiltration. StaTIC fairly easily took over the host and raided the place, and found Tiny on the security cameras. It turned out that it looks like they'd been ripped apart by a behemoth. We warned the various gangs that there was a Behemoth somewhere in the city, and ran.

A few days later, Malta killed Corinne Potter out of rage at her involvement and Horizon's spinning of the project.

Notes:

• Corinne Potter is rumored to have been whisked to St. Louis ahead of the disaster, was suspiciously missing at a scheduled press conference on the morning of the 8th
• Learned about whereabouts of the local Mafia compound and general lay of underworld from East Side Boys gang lieutenant raiding a Stuffer Shack.
• North UCAS Mafia is governed by the Santucci family, whose main focus is mostly playing the UCAS border and smuggling further north and into the NAN. Central UCAS Mafia is controlled by the De Lucia family, of which the Don is a member of.
  • Visited Santucci compound, got a letter of introduction from a decker at the compound; they were `closed for business' at the current time.

• After setting up a Matrix Soup Kitchen for people to get in and out and send notes to family, we were attacked by a drone
  • The person who attacked us revealed there is a contract out on matrix hotspots, and money paid for disabling them
    • The corporation offering the bounty was a NeoNet subsidiary recently sold to Ares
• We met with Florence who gave us an address for Bella
