The California Institute of Technology, commonly referred to as "CalTech", is one of the two universities located in the greater [[Los Angeles]] area, with the other being [[UCLA]]. CalTech is based in Pasadena and has survived the 2069 earthquake rather unscathed and has used it as an oppertunity to expand its campus in rebuilding and reclamation efforts in the surrounding drowned cities. Its primary backer is the [[PCC]], although it also courts corp money (but not from [[Horizon]] — they are in on the UCLA pie) and it boasts a very strong Computer Science and Doctor of Thaumaturgy program.
