Elf Espionage

Eclipse encountered a Mr Johnson who appeared to want something. She was given a data dump and 200000¥ as an advance. She was told if she wants to accept the job, she can go to Dante's Inferno tomorrow, and if she doesn't want to accept the job, she can return the advance (on pain of assassination if she doesn't).

Daniel Shaunessy:

Personna Bio: Twenty year Peace Corps veteran. Current Duke. Interested in social justice and reform. Let's grow the Tír Together.

Cutter: Shaunessy is one of the luckiest fraggin' stiffs in the entire Tír. Drekhead was born to an Irenis family, low as any trog. Used his mandatory military service to get his training, and fought against Cal Free forces during the first invasion, won enough glory, and more importantly notice, to get himself made a Ghost. Going from Irenis to Ghost the slot head then hit the new Rites of Progression once they got reinstated, and walked out a fraggin' Duke.

Going from pariah to nearly a Royal changed him. Rumour is he quit the Ghosts, if that's something a Tír citizen can do, and started a non-profit, Tír Together. They're supposed to be supporting building a better Tír, uplifting the Irenis and freeing the impoverished. Rumour is, they're Elf supremacists, but no one has been able to show it.

Hyla: Cutter has it mostly right, but he's leaving out that Shaunessy disappeared two years ago. Apparently an ongoing Ghost mission.

Green Lucifer:

Hyla: If you fraggin' don't know who Green Lucifer is you need to get out of the shadows fast kid. This fraggin' pain in the hoop just wants to destroy the whole damn Tír and he'll use the Ancients as a weapon if he has too. First though, he's going to build the Ancients into the best weapon he can.

Cutter: Hyla's too focused on Lucifer's focus on the Tír. Lucifer is building a separate shadow Tír. The Scavenger Hunts and the races are a shadow of the Rites of Progression, the goal is to make a shadow society and replace the Tír itself. Lucifer has been gunning to destroy the Tír, and probably would fall into open warfare, but as it is, having his own is probably better. This is why it's so important Belial rose through the ranks "properly" and why it's so important that Belial runs Seattle.

Halloweeners:

Hyla: Understand that the Halloweeners aren't an A rated gang anymore. Their decimation was devistating to them and they want to grow their ranks again. Their traditional acceptance of the ghoul population, and their freebooting style, means that they are currently supporting more ghoul members than any other time, and this is leading them to more and more violence to generate the bodies they need. The Halloweeners would probably be possible to bribe with nothing more than the location of a large group of metahumans they could ride up on.

Cutter: Hyla is missing the obvious that the violence is also restricting the gang's recruiting of non-ghoul members. Anyone getting involved in this should know that they have a few members with pretty strong mojo, the kind of thing to not scoff at.

Spikes:

Cutter: The Spikes are a polyclub without the limits. They're racist orks and trolls trying to kill elves. All their pretentions at protection rackets, drug sales, and whatever drek is just a joke for getting elf heads on pikes and being mad at the Ancients.

Hyla: The Spikes aren't that simple, but they aren't not that simple. Underestimating their skills in the drug trade, and the huge number of organizations who rely on them for muscle is one of the best passtimes of wannabe crime lords. If your casino keeps running because you're paying the local Spikes chapter to bring in security staff, that means you can never not pay the Spikes. Fraggers always think Trolls are dumb, when really the Trolls are trying to get you to think they're dumb so you walk into their traps. Not that the Spikes don't also wish they could festoon their bikes with elf skulls.

The run so far

So Mr. Johnson says Shaunessy is going to be assassinated at a meet between the Ancients and Halloweeners, and our job is to stop, and preferably kill, the assassin.

Things we've found out:

• The Ancients and 'Weeners are meeting to plan a war on the Spikes.
• Shaunessy has infiltrated the Ancients, is posing as one of Belial's lieutenants, and will be at the meet
• If Shaunessy is geeked, it's going to publicly show Tír meddling in the Ancients, which could destabilize the entire region
• Mr. Johnson is practically a ghost on the Matrix, but we have found a picture tying him to Sirrurg
• Someone has planted a Fairlight Caliban at the meet, at the best location for a sniper to set up
• We traced the Caliban to a technomancer in Mt. Shasta (so probably one of the Clutch working for Hestaby, which is just Aces)
• After we messed with the Caliban, someone was able to come by, reset it, and get gone all within the span of one hour and without us seeing them

We anonymously tipped off Shaunessy to the threat on his life.
