Kosovo
Kosovo was a state which fell out of the mess that was after the second Eurowar, and was one of the states the cut-off Jihadists relocated to, being a predominantly (90+%) Muslim region. Perpetually at odds with their northern neighbour Serbia, it is bordered on the west by the Novi Pazar Enclave and SW with a de jure (but not de facto) border with Albania. The land between the porous southern border and the Free Macedonia enclave is a no-man's land buffer maintained by Hellas.
Kosovo was annexed by Serbia in a blitz offensive during the confusion after Crash 2.0 in 2064. This radicalized many of the Muslim youth and it was generally accepted that Sayyid Mujtaba Musawa used this resentment to set up a base of operations in the region as this was where he was last sighted in 2073. In early 2078 when al-Haq issued a fatwa against the Serbian government and reignited the fighting between the Allied Islamic Territories and Serbia, Kosovo took the opportunity to revolt and re-established itself as an independent democratic state by late 2078. This was short-lived, however, when less than two weeks later general Ibrahim Myftiu established himself as emir of the newly proclaimed Emirate of Kosovo.
