Singularity

From Jackpoint

Headquartered in San Fransisco, to the public, is a Matrix service providor and software developer, but its real purpose is to be the IT department to the entire Horizon megacorp. The entire backend of every Horizon department is maintained by Singularity, from the project details to the Persona 2.0 page every drone uses on a day-to-day basis.

The early history of Singularity is rather un-noteworthy in its exploits, with the exception of being miraculously offline for scheduled matinance on November 2, 2064 when Matrix Crash 2.0 hit, letting Horizon recover extremely quickly relatively to other corps. After the Crash, Singularity branched out to secure data storage, virtual school software, and information brokering. They also pioneered the highly acclaimed Automated Crime Prevention system which debuted in LA in 2071, and had less successful endeavours like the automated criminal behaviour rehabilitation programs which resulted in the murders of two high-profile media stars.

Most of Singularity's post-Crash market success was spearheaded by its VP, Tam Reyes, MIT&T valedictorian and confirmed technomancer. However, he angrily resigned after the Las Vegas massacre and much of Singularity's talent jumped ship with him. The replacement, Juneau Estes, is an unknown outside hire.

> What is interesting is that nobody seems to know where Reyes had disappeared to. It's like he's dropped off every grid. — Sunshine
>> That's not improbable. Plenty of room up in the clouds or in the wells to hide in. — Orbital DK

> Horizon normally fills board seats from within, usually by HIP score, so an external hire to the board is almost unthinkable. I'd keep a close eye on him and see who's pulling the strings. — Cosmo
