Rules:Harder Extended Tests
From Jackpoint
Purpose: Have an option for a harder Extended Test
This proposal adds a new parameter to extended tests which indicates "difficulty" (in the Arkam Horror sense) of the roll. This parameter is a non-negative integer k whose default value is 0, and is indicated in the notation for Extended Tests as follows: Die Pool [Limit] (Threshold, Interval) {k}.
Option 1: Success Reduction
The first k hits on each roll do not count as successes.
- Does not reduces Limit by k as well
- Does not make negative progress if you roll fewer than k successes
- Break the Limit Edge does not affect the difficulty of k
- More likely to crit glitch
Option 2: Success Threshold
The first k successes on each roll do not count towards the threshold (but count as successes for Limit).
- Effectively reduces Limit by k as well
- Does not make negative progress if you roll fewer than k successes
- Break the Limit Edge does not affect the difficulty of k
Option 3: Increase Threshold per Turn
Before you roll your die pool, add k to the remaining Threshold value.
- Effectively reduces Limit by k as well
- You can make negative progress if you roll fewer than k successes
- Break the Limit Edge does not affect the difficulty of k
Option 4: Reduce Limit
Limit is reduced by k.
- Effectively reduces Limit by k as well
- Does not make negative progress if you roll fewer than k successes
- Break the Limit Edge bypasses difficulty of k
